Learning to Code

19 08 2013

In the afternoon the camp participants were introduced to Paul Walsh and Alfie Keary to learn the basics of computer coding that is so present in all of our lives today.

The campers worked in their teams to build an inventors kit to see how coding and simple sequencing plays a role in many different industries and activities that we engage with on a daily basis.

To effectively demonstrate this they hooked up an ear sensor to their circuit boards to pick up their heart rate which displayed for them on the circuit board through a blinking light. ¬†Each team was successful in wiring up their sensors and I’m happy to report all heart rates were healthy.

The workshop allowed the students to gain a basic knowledge of computing and programming while having some fun at the same time!!
