Ideas and Innovation

19 08 2014

Day two of the camp started with an idea generation workshop.  Armed with a flip chart, ream of blank pages and a marker, it didn’t take long for the ideas to start flowing.  The challenge now will be to short-list down and pick an idea to bring forward through the week.

After all the hard work in the morning, the group hopped on a bus and headed for the Depuy Ireland offices in Ringaskiddy.  The DePuy Companies are part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies and are global leaders in providing healthcare solutions in orthopaedics, spinal care, sports medicine and neurosciences.  The campers were welcomed to the on site innovation centre with a table full of drinks and snacks, a beautiful view across the water and enthusiastic speakers to tell us all about the innovation they use each day in their work.  What more can a bunch of teenagers want on a sunny afternoon!

Following the interesting discussions about the development of their replacement joints and an impromptu surgery(not to worry, it was a fun and educational on-line game), we were taken around the tour to see the state of the art facilities and processes.

The necessary smiley group picture ended the visit nicely! 🙂
