Visit from Glenilen Farm

20 08 2013

The enterprise campers in CIT were treated to a visit from Alan Kingston from Glenilen Farm today.  Alan told the story of how himself and his wife Valerie became “accidental entrepreneurs” by simply using their skills and knowledge of dairy farming and food science to develop a highly successful business producing cheesecakes, yoghurts, mousses and many other products.

Alan explained their approach to their business, emphasising the importance of innovation.  He said “innovation always requires you to go one step further”.  He explained that they try to push the boundaries of what they are comfortable with in order to keep their customers happy.  Glenilen aim to have 10% of their turnover each year from new products to keep the brand growing and fresh.

The session ended with a delicious sampling of some of Glenilen Farms popular products.  This followed by a number of kind offers by the camp participants to become full time tasters.
